Free Workshops
Learning Opportunities
At MASC, we are committed to providing valuable resources and support for individuals and families affected by autism spectrum disorder. One of the key services we offer is our free workshops led by experienced professionals to empower parents, caregivers, educators, and professionals with the information, tools, and skills necessary to understand and support individuals with autism. For more information, please contact us or visit our website.
Here are some of the free workshops we offer at MASC:
- Introduction to Autism – You can find just about everything you want to know on the internet. Sitting in a room with parents and professionals who live a life impacted by autism is very different than a social media post. This workshop allows attendees to benefit from the experiences of others and provides an opportunity to ask questions and discuss topics with people who get it.
- Parenting with Applied Behavior Analysis – Professionals using ABA in a clinical setting count on the families to help generalize skills learned at MASC into the home setting. This introduction to the science of behavior as it relates to life at home will help attendees understand and use the same strategies used during ABA therapy.
- The Special Education Marathon – Special education is not a sprint; it is a marathon of documents and lengthy processes and procedures. This presentation breaks down the document as well as the process of Special Education in Virginia. Like running a marathon, learning to effectively advocate for your child takes time and practice. Attendees will be well on their way to winning the race after this workshop.
- When You’re Left with a Shell of a Child – A parent’s first-hand experience through the journey of autism. From diagnosis to 22 years later and everything between, this presentation covers the good, the bad, and the ugly that comes with raising a child with autism.
