Keri Peko founded MASC in 2004 so children with autism in Hampton Roads could receive applied behavior analysis and their families could receive much-needed support. Keri worked with other military spouses to advocate for Tricare to provide coverage for military members with exceptional family members on the spectrum to receive scientifically validated services. She had the opportunity to speak with Joint Chiefs of Staff, Congressmen, and the office of the Surgeon General about making changes to the existing policy. Keri is the mother of two adult daughters at opposite ends of the autism spectrum and has called Chesapeake home for 21 years.
Keri brings special education advocacy and parent training as new services for the families of MASC’s clients. After over 20 years of navigating special education in Virginia and working with the state’s Parent Training and Information center (PEATC) for 5 years, she is giving MASC families the benefit of her experience and supporting their efforts in ensuring their children receive the free, appropriate public education they are entitled to.
